The Granma newspaper, the official organ of the Communist Party of Cuba led with a picture of Cuban President Raul Castro pinning the Jose Martin Order on State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

The Secretary of Cuba’s State Council, Jomero Acosta, praised Mr Triet’s contribution to developing solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples.

The Cuban media also covered the talks between the two State leaders who compared notes on regional and international issues of mutual concern and expressed their desire to continue strengthening bilateral political and economic ties.

Mr Triet’s trip is seen as one of the most important visits by a foreign head of state to Cuba in 2009.
