As many as 700 young people gathered at the Hanoi National University on March 25 for a meeting with State President Nguyen Minh Triet to discuss social and economic development issues.

The meeting is a practical activity in the lead up to the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, demonstrating the special attention the Party, State and the State President gives to the country’s young generations.


The meeting was organised under the theme “Vietnamese Youth: Initiative, Creativity, Readiness for Global Integration and Development” and focused on six issues: how to arm young people with belief; jobs for young people; opportunities, challenges and actions of students and young intellectuals as Vietnam is now a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the development and application of science and new technologies.


Participants discussed issues related to requirements for building a contingent of young and qualified managers, State officials and scientists.

On this occasion, young people and young intellectuals expressed their aspirations towards the Party and the State and proposed solutions for promoting national construction and development.


The meeting between State President Nguyen Minh Triet and young Vietnamese people demonstrated the Party and State’s confidence in the country’s young generations and the attention given by senior leaders to people throughout the country, particularly young people.


The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
