State President Nguyen Minh Triet received newly accredited ambassadors from the Republic of Korea, Moldova and Burundi in Hanoi on June 1.

President Triet praised the fine relations between Vietnam and these three countries while affirming that Vietnam wants to strengthen and expand its relations with many countries around the world.

Mr Triet and the diplomats discussed measures to promote friendship and comprehensive cooperation in economic, trade and investment.

Talking to Korean Ambassador Ha Chan Ho, Mr Triet said Vietnam wants the RoK to maintain its leading role of investment in the country and create the best possible conditions for Vietnamese citizens to integrate into the Korean community.

Mr Ho said he would do his best to lift the Korea-Vietnam strategic partnership to a higher level, and conveyed his condolences to the recent death of a Vietnamese bride in his country.

The Korean Government has adopted policies to help foreign brides got married to Korean husbands integrate into the Korean community by providing linguistic and cultural training and preventing similar cases of ill treatment, Mr Ho emphasised.

At a reception for Moldavian Ambassador Anatolie Urecheanu, President Triet said the friendship between Vietnam and Moldova is a favourable foundation for them to boost their cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, culture, education, and support each other in the international arena.

Mr Urecheanu said bilateral economic cooperation is still far from matching the two countries’ potential. Therefore, Moldova wants to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in this field, to help Vietnam achieve greater penetration of the Moldavian and European market.

While meeting with Burundian Ambassador Gasunzu Pascal, President Triet said Vietnam wants to boost comprehensive cooperation with African countries, including Burundi.

He also asked Burundi, in its capacity as president of the West Africa Community, to coordinate with Vietnam in promoting relations between West African nations and ASEAN member countries.

Vietnam is ready to share experiences with Burundi in agricultural development, healthcare and education, Mr Triet emphasised.

For his part, Mr Pascal praised Vietnam’s achievements in poverty reduction and agricultural development and asked the country to share its experience in these fields because 70 percent of Burundi’s economy rely on farming.
