State President Nguyen Minh Triet met with Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on May 5.

At the meeting, State President Triet welcomed the guest’s second visit to Vietnam and affirmed the State and Party’s consistent policy of respecting the religious freedom of citizens and creating favourable conditions for all religions to operate. State President Triet discussed issues related to religious performance in Vietnam with Most Venerable Hanh whom, he hopes will contribute to strengthening the great unity bloc, religious solidarity and national construction.

Most Venerable Hanh was delighted at the country’s rapid development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He highly valued the State and Government’s creation of favourable conditions for citizens to follow religions as well as for overseas Vietnamese to return to their homeland.
