A high-level Vietnamese delegation led by State President Nguyen Minh Triet began a four-day official visit to China on May 15 at the invitation of President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao.

The visit reflects a long tradition of high-level meetings between Vietnam and China, and affirms the Party and State’s consistent policy of diversifying and multilateralising external relations under the motto “Vietnam wants to be a friend and trusted partner of all countries” with a focus on developing relations with traditional friends and partners including China.

The visit is an opportunity for the two countries’ leaders to discuss measures to foster economic and trade cooperation programmes, implement the economic agreement “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” and expand cooperation in other areas such as education and training, culture, science and technology and sports.

Mr Triet is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, several ministers and representatives of 90 entrepreneurs to seek business opportunities with Chinese partners.
