The hosting of the conference is a great honour for Vietnam, showing the CIRTEF’s trust in the host country’s organisation ability as well as the rapid development of its broadcasting industry, said Mr Triet.
“Vietnam will do its utmost to make the meeting a success,” said the president.
He briefed the delegates on the country’s communications development and said both Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Vietnam Television (VTV) – the two co-hosts of the meeting - are making a practical contribution to national Renewal achievements.
The two national media agencies have played a leading role in building the trust of the people and encouraging them to get involved in development programmes, while introducing international friends to Vietnam’s land and people, helping accelerate the country’s international integration, said Mr Triet.
He expressed his hope that during the two-day meeting, delegates would work out measures to overcome difficulties and challenges facing the broadcasting industry and seek more effective cooperation methods among CIRTEF member countries.
The delegates expressed their admiration for Vietnam’s recent achievements, especially in the broadcasting industry by applying new technology to programming. They said they want to cooperate with VOV and VTV, considering the two media agencies as bright examples for other broadcasters in developing countries in the southern hemisphere to follow.
In the evening, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen The Thao gave a banquet in honour of the delegates.
