On October 5, State President Truong Tan Sang received credentials from the ambassadors of Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Finland.

At the reception for Belgian ambassador to Vietnam Bruno Angelet, President Sang praised the tremendous achievements Belgium has recorded in recent times and expressed his satisfaction at the fine relations between the two countries.

Mr Sang said he hopes the Belgian ambassador will make greater contributions to promoting bilateral relations in the future.

Mr Angelet affirmed that his country will boost cooperation with Vietnam in agriculture, the environment, science and technology and water resource management.

Talking to German ambassador Claus Wunderlich, President Sang said Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing relations with Germany - a major economic power in Europe.

Mr Sang praised Germany for maintaining its ODA provision for Vietnam in the complex and difficult situation of the world economy.

Mr Wunderlich said he will do his best to strengthen the strong relationship between the two countries during the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the German Chancellor.

At the meeting with Finnish ambassador to Vietnam Kimmo Lahdevirta, Mr Sang thanked Finland for its support during Vietnam’s struggle for national independence as well as in its current renewal process.

In terms of economic cooperation, Finland’s renowned Nokia mobile phone producer has invested effectively in Vietnam, Mr Sang noted.

The Finnish diplomat said he will try his utmost to boost cooperation with Vietnam in education and training and healthcare.

He said he hopes Vietnam will support Finland’s bid to become a non- permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Meeting with the Luxembourg ambassador, Mr Sang said Vietnam and Luxembourg have maintained good relations in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation areas.

Vietnam always regards Luxemburg as one of the big partners in Europe. However, functional agencies from both countries need to increase close cooperation in order to bring bilateral relations to a higher level.
