Vietnam’s State auditors need to increase co-operation with domestic and counterpart organisations overseas to develop the sector, said President Nguyen Minh Triet on May 8.

During a meeting with leading auditors and officials in Hanoi, on the 15th anniversary of the departments’ establishment, Triet said the sector took on tasks that concern the entire country and the people.

It ensures healthy society, while improving the efficiency of management and helps to eliminate corruption.

He said that he wants it to have a thorough grasp of the Party and State’s policies on economic development. This will toughen up inspections and audits which helps economic development and also ensures that the auditors remain neutral.

The sector should step up its training programme to meet the need for quantity and professional quality.

Branches around the country need to praise people who distinguish themselves but punish staff who have broken the law. Audit results are important as they help every sector, business and locality to understand exactly where they stand and work to overcome any shortcomings.
