In Bac Kan, the President told the provincial authorities to focus on improving its transport infrastructure. He called on the province to be more active in exploiting available natural resources, workforce and tourism potential and speeding up the economic restructuring in order to take the lead in economic development in the north.

In Thai Nguyen province, President Triet asked the provincial party organisation and people to join hands to promote economic and cultural development. The province should also reinforce political stability, national defence and security while improving locals' living conditions, the President emphasised.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on February 15 visited Hoa Binh province.

During the visit, he expressed his hope that the local Party organisation, authorities and people, including ethnic groups, in Hoa Binh will continue to implement the 10th Party Congress Resolution; promote economic restructuring, improve people's living conditions and preserve and develop the cultural identities of ethnic minorities. Chairman Trong urged the province to strongly renew the activities of the political system, combat corruption and wastefulness, and to actively take part in the drive to study and follow President Ho's ethical examples.

Visiting a commune in Hoa Binh town, Chairman Trong asked the Party cell and authorities of the commune to care for the lives of local people, so as to ensure a happy Tet for them.
