The Indian delegation led by Speaker of India’s House of the People, Somnath Chatterjee left Ho Chi Minh City on March 27, successfully concluding its official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

During the visit from March 22-27, Mr Chatterjee held talks with NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, met with Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

 

On these occasions, the two sides agreed to strengthen the relations of friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and India in general and between the two parliaments in particular.

 

The two sides discussed measures to implement high-ranking agreements under the framework of comprehensive co-operation, especially in economics, trade, education and training, information technology and biotechnology and strengthen co-ordination at regional and international forums.

 

Speaker of India’s House of the People and his entourage visited Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and a number of economic and cultural units in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong.
