Sound CPV leadership determines all national successes

VOV.VN - Every achievement and step forward enjoyed by Vietnamese people can be put down to the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), said Sounthone Sayachak, head of the Lao Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, during a recent interview granted to a VOV correspondent in Vientiane.

Sayachak sounded her appreciation for the CPV’s leadership in their efforts to build and develop the country for local people, as well as the special relationship between the two Parties of both nations and the Vietnamese and Laotian people.

Providing an assessment of Vietnamese achievements over the years, the Lao Party official said the past five years has seen the nation record plenty of great, comprehensive, and historic achievements across multiple fields, especially in efforts to maintain political stability.

The country has successfully contained the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in parallel with economic development and recovery efforts following natural disasters. Indeed, the nation is one of the 10 countries to be praised by the wider international community for having the highest economic growth globally and being one of the 16 most developed economies in 2020.

The past five years witnessed the domestic economy grow over 5.9% on average, an impressive figure amid the current complexities globally in relation to economics, Sayachak added.

Furthermore, national security and defence have been increasingly strengthened, firmly ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. In addition, remarkable improvements have been recorded in culture, social affairs, health care, education, and science and technology.

Moreover, poverty reduction has also seen strong signs of progress, with the poverty rate falling by 10% in 2020 to below 3%. This clearly indicates the Vietnamese Party and Government’s  thorough attention to local people's lives.

Sayachak also highlighted Vietnamese successes in foreign affairs and international integration, noting that last year saw the country excellently fulfil responsibilities relating to its role as the Chair of ASEAN and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020 to 2021 term.

These achievements and contributions have therefore served to enhance the nation’s role and position in regional and international forums, she said.

She also highlighted the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation that exists between both sides, with these ties seeing steady growth across a multitude of fields, bringing practical benefits to both nations in the process.

The Lao Party official expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people for their valuable and effective support of Laos’s revolutionary cause in the past, along with its current role in defence and construction efforts.

Sayachak concluded by wishing the 13th National Party Congress great success, voicing the hope that the Vietnamese Party will continue to lead the country moving forward, thereby fulfilling the goal of building a powerful nation which is home to prosperous people, along with an equitable, democratic, and civilised society.
