Representatives from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang and officials from Vietnam’s Son La province and Laos’s Hua Phan province attended a ceremony for the planting of border marker 211 at the Chieng Khuong border gate on August 9.

There are 112 markers between the two provinces. Son La is committed to planting 37 of them in 2010. Marker 211 is one of the first eight border markers being built from number 203 to211, along the common border.

Cam Van Chinh, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People’s Committee, said the two provinces are hastening the progress of surveying, repairing damaged markers, and planting new ones.
