State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on April 29 awarded the honourable title of "People's Armed Force Hero" to revolutionary soldiers who had been imprisoned in Hoa Lo prison.
The title aims to honour the great contributions and sacrifices of these soldiers for national independence during the past struggle against foreign aggressors.
Present at the award presentation ceremony were former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, and Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, as well as representatives from ministries and central agencies.
Built in 1896 by French colonials, Hoa Lo prison held communist soldiers, resulting in 200 deaths.
