Entitled “Solidarity and action for ASEAN”, the forum will enable delegates from social movements and civil organizations in ASEAN to come together and promote mutual understanding as well as solidarity.

The forum will discuss measures to coordinate the actions of civil organizations in ASEAN in the near future and come up with recommendations for ASEAN’s leaders to create a people oriented ASEAN Community.

At the end of May, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and other social organizations in Vietnam and other ASEAN member countries jointly held the first preparatory meeting on the sixth APF.

The participants agreed that the APF is a strategically important event, which will help to raise the public’s awareness and the group’s perception.

However, they suggested the organizers renew the organization of the forum and promote the role of people’s organizations in ASEAN during the preparation for the event. This will improve the forum’s effectiveness and boost cooperation within ASEAN’s official channels.
