Singapore ready to boost cooperation with Vietnam
Singapore is willing to increase multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam and share experiences in investment, trade, seaports, urban infrastructure development, and training human resources, said Singapore’s President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
At talks with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on April 24, the Singaporean President said he was impressed by the recent achievements recorded by the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, adding that these have helped raise the country’s regional and global status.
President Tan said he hopes Vietnam will continue accomplishing even more during its socio-economic development and attain its goal of becoming a modern, industrialized nation by 2020.

Party leader Trong spoke highly of President Tan’s visit to Vietnam, his first overseas trip since he took office, describing it as a vivid symbol of the friendship, mutual trust and fine cooperation between the two nations.
General Secretary Trong also congratulated Singapore on its socio-economic achievements and briefed President Tan on the current socio-economic situation in Vietnam. He affirmed that Vietnam is determined to work with Singapore to improve the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation in economics, trade, national defence and security, as well as education, training, oil, gas and the judicial sector.
He added that Vietnam and Singapore should coordinate closely at multilateral ASEAN and UN forums for mutual benefit to promote peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
