Vietnamese and Serbian foreign ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two ministries during the visit.

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic is paying a two-day visit to Vietnam from February 23-24.

At the talks held between Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic, both sides briefed each other on the situation in their respective country as well as regional and international issues of common concern. They discussed measures to promote bilateral relations in external politics, economics, trade and investment.

Mr Khiem praised the achievements Serbian people have recorded during the process of national construction and development while affirming that Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing the friendship and traditional cooperation with Serbia for the two countries’ benefits.

The two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two foreign ministries and discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation further. They also agreed to maintain regular political consultations, promote joint coordination in dealing with regional and international issues of mutual concern for the sake of peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Mr Vuk Jeremic spoke highly of Vietnam’s tremendous achievements during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process and implementation of the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralisation and international integration.

Serbia will prioritise the promotion of friendship and traditional cooperation with Vietnam, Mr Vuk Jeremic added.

He took this occasion to convey invitations to visit Serbia from his country’s President,  Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker to Vietnamese counterparts.
