Seminar gives deeper insight into citizen diplomacy in new context

VOV.VN - A seminar on people-to-people diplomacy in the new context was held in both in-person and via an online platform by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on June 18.

The event was launched with the aim of defining the role, requirements, and tasks of people-to-people diplomacy in the new period, as well as reviewing and assessing achieved results through the performance of a directive by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on improving the efficiency of the sector.

It was also held to offer recommendations to the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat regarding future work.

Participants used the occasion to discuss orientations of people-to-people diplomacy in the near future, along with co-ordination between people’s and State’s diplomacy in the new situation.

Those in attendance also compared notes regarding measures to enhance the effectiveness of parliamentary and people-to-people diplomacy, experience in the implementation of the directive, and recommendations that can bolster the efficiency of the people’s diplomacy.

Some others proposals to boost co-ordination of three pillars of diplomacy were also put forward, including the Party’s diplomacy, the State’s diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy along with requirements regarding the Party and State's leadership of citizen diplomacy in terms of mechanisms and policies.
