The seminar was attended by leaders from many localities, representatives from relevant ministries, scientific associations, and leading economic experts from institutes and universities nationwide.
Participants agreed that the national economy has gained remarkable achievements in the past five years, and lifted the country well above the threshold of “low-income developing countries,” to become one of average income nations.
However, there remain hidden risks of macro-economic instability caused by run-away such as inflation, fluctuations in the rate of exchange, rising import surplus, high trade deficit, low foreign exchange reserves, and high account outstanding.
Addressing the seminar, Ha Van Hien, head of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee emphasized that the seminar aims to identify and analyze shortcomings in the quality of growth, policies leading to instability over the years, as well as submitting proposals to implement the socio-economic development plan in 2011 and the next five years.
