The organizers, including the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Ministry of Finance, hailed efforts made by Binh Dinh province in public education.
They also lauded the province’s effective investment in infrastructure for socio-economic development in coastal areas and on islands, citing coastal road No. 639, the Nhon Hoi economic zone and Quy Nhon, Thi Nai and De Gi seaports.
Leaders from relevant agencies called on the province to systematically intensify campaigns to raise public awareness of defending and developing sea and island economy. They said public education should focus on the outlook, objectives and strategic orientations for socio-economic development and security of sea waters and islands.
Campaigns should highlight the significant and important positions of seas and islands in national construction and defence and affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracell) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, where the navy plays a flagship role.
In addition, the coastal province was advised that foreign affairs, development of science and technology, strengthening the fishing fleet and construction of coastal and island infrastructural facilities should go along with environmental protection and natural disaster control.
