Addressing the ceremony, in the presence of former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai, President Triet underlined the importance of the road to the development of both HCM City and Can Gio district.

Mr. Triet said he hopes the road will create changes, and asked the city to invest more in infrastructure to help Can Gio develop.

** On the same day, State President Triet and former Prime Minister Khai, together with Ho Chi Minh City leaders broke the ground on a public water system project for Can Gio district.

The VND882 billion project will be undertaken by Saigon Water Company and is scheduled for completion in December 2010.
