The Grand National Party (GNP) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has always sought to further enhance its relationship with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and promote the all-around cooperation between the two countries, contributing to effectively implementing the RoK-Vietnam strategic cooperative partnership.

Visiting GNP Secretary General Kim Chung-kwon made the statement at a reception given by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on August 16.

Party General Secretary Trong warmly welcomed the visit by the GNP delegation and considered the visit an important step of development in the friendly and cooperative relations between the CPV and the GNP.

Earlier, on August 15, Secretary General Kim Chung-kwon held talks with Politburo member and permanent member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh.

The two sides informed each other of their respective country’s Party situation, exchanged views on international issues of mutual concern and discussed orientations and major measures to enhance relations between the two Parties and countries.

They also agreed to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation and support and create conditions for the two countries’ localities to promote exchange and cooperation as well as each country’s citizens and businesses to live, study and conduct business in the other country.

They will coordinate to jointly organise activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in 2012.

On this occasion, Le Hong Anh and Kim Chung-kwon signed a memorandum of understanding on the enhancement of cooperation between the CPV and the GNP.

During their stay in the country, the GNP delegation was received by Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Hanoi on August 16.

Vice Chairwoman Ngan expressed her joy at the development of the two countries’ relations within the framework of the strategic cooperative partnership.

She said that since the two countries set up diplomatic ties, the Vietnamese Government and people have always received support and assistance from the RoK government and people during national construction.

Vice Chairwoman Ngan expressed her hope that the RoK will continue assisting Vietnamese people, particularly those living and working in the country, including Vietnamese brides.

She proposed that the two sides boost exchanges to increase mutual understanding and trust, and to make a foundation for the enhancement of the two countries’ relations in many fields.

Secretary General Kim pledged that relevant agencies of the RoK would create favourable conditions for Vietnamese people living there, while expressing his hope that the Vietnamese Government will also help the RoK community in Vietnam.
