Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Republic of Korea (RoK) counterpart Kim Huwang-sik have agreed to intensify cooperation and coordination between the two countries at international forums such as the United Nations, the WTO, APEC, G20, and the ASEAN+ Summit.

The two leaders reached this agreement during their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Seoul.

During the meeting, RoK Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik stressed that the RoK is ready to work closely with Vietnam to raise its strategic partnership with Vietnam to a new height. He pledged that his government will continue to provide more ODA for Vietnam and to encourage Korean businesses to invest intensively in Vietnam’s infrastructure, energy, high technology, and green development.

The Korean Prime Minister said he highly values the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the RoK and committed himself to further improving the living and working conditions for Vietnamese people, especially Vietnamese brides, in the country.

Meanwhile, PM Dung reiterated that Vietnam attaches great importance to its ties with the RoK, and proposed some concrete ideas to deepen cooperative relations between the two countries through high-level visits, effective dialogues on diplomacy, security and defence, and people-to-people exchange.

Mr Dung also suggested the RoK government create favourable conditions for Vietnamese goods to enter the RoK market to mitigate the bilateral trade imbalance.
