The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Prime Minister Roh Moo-hyun has conferred the Grand Gwanghwa Medal on former Vietnamese PM Phan Van Khai for his efforts in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Im Hong-jae handed the medal to former PM Khai at a ceremony held in Hanoi on February 21.


According Ambassador Im Hong-jae, former PM Khai has witnessed the development of Vietnam-RoK relations since the two countries’ establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992 and his government decided to award the Grand Gwanghwa Medal, RoK’s highest order for a foreign high-ranking leader, to former PM Khai in recognition of his contributions.


Former PM Khai expressed his thanks to the RoK government, saying that he will continue to foster bilateral ties.


He said he believes that relationship between Vietnam and RoK will be lifted to  \new heights in the future.
