RoK asked not to make statement hurting Vietnamese sentiment

VOV.VN - Vietnam has requested the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) not to take any action and make any statement hurting the Vietnamese people’s sentiment and undermining the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang made the statement on June 12 in reply to reporters’ queries on Vietnam’s viewpoint on a speech of RoK President Moon Jae-in on June 6 honouring Korean “contributors” joining battlefields in foreign countries, including Vietnam.

“Regarding this issue, on June 9, 2017, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seriously talked with a representative of the Republic of Korean Embassy in Vietnam.

“Vietnam wishes to develop friendly relations with all nations, including the Republic of Korea. Leaders of the two countries reached common perceptions in putting the past aside and looking towards the future," Hang said.
