On September 15, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh and representatives from centrally-run ministries worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The working session reviewed the implementation of the 10th Party Central Committee’s Resolution 26 on agriculture, farmers and rural development.

According to a MARD report, local administrations at all levels have intensified the dissemination of information about the resolution and adopted policies to bring it to realization.

After three years of implementing the Resolution, positive changes have been seen in agricultural production, poverty reduction and building new rural areas.

Despite facing difficulties and challenges, agricultural and rural development maintained steady growth during the reviewed period, contributing to the country’s socio-economic stability.

However, there remain some unresolved issues related to the implementation such as inadequate awareness among a segment of cadres and the population about the Resolution and the program to build new rural areas, and an ineffective, slow-paced implementation process.

Party leader Trong praised the achievements of the agriculture and rural development sector in implementing Resolution 26, and underlined the need to raise public awareness of the importance of agriculture, farmers and rural development. Regular examination of the implementation process should also be conducted to ensure more substantial and effective rural development.
