At a meeting with the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, Mr Sang praised the achievements it has made over the last five years and asked the province to develop the local economy by upping the production of automobiles, cement, granite tiles, electricity, aquaculture and tourism and to continue with administrative reforms to attract more investment.

The Secretariat of Quang Nam provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Duc Hai briefed Mr Sang and his delegation on the implementation of the resolutions adopted at the provincial Party congress for 2005-2010.

During the past five years, Quang Nam has reached a relatively high economic rate with a per capita income of VND17.6 million/year and has restructured its economy, focusing more on industry and developing services. The province’s average GDP growth rate last year hit 12.8 percent. This year’s GDP growth is predicted to increase by 1.8 times over 2005.

Mr Sang and his delegation visited a number of exceptional farming households in Tam Phuoc in Phu Ninh district, which has been selected to pilot a project to build a new rural model in the past year.
