Vietnam’s Quang Binh province and Laos’ Kham Muon province plan to complete the planting of border markers by the end of 2011.
The joint committee on border demarcation between the two provinces held its fourth meeting in Dong Hoi City on June 25 to review the effort so far.
In the first half of this year, 18 out of 29 border markers were erected along the borderline of the two provinces. So far the planting team has scouted 23 locations and built 19 border markers.
Nguyen Dang, Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee, recommended that the surveys be conducted along with the removal of mines in the border areas.
