Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung spoke highly of the special ties between Vietnam and Laos, which have developed strongly and effectively in all fields.

At a reception for Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad in Hanoi on August 28, PM Dung said the two sides have cooperated closely to organize activities marking the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012.

He said he hopes both countries will continue to effectively implement agreements, especially in economics, trade and investment, aiming to raise two-way trade turnover to a more impressive level in the future.

He emphasized that Vietnam and Laos have drawn on their experiences and surmounted difficulties in cooperation to achieve excellent results. He proposed they improve the exchange of information and further support each other at regional and international forums.

Deputy PM Somsavat said he believes Vietnam will obtain even greater achievements in national construction and renewal under the leadership of the Communist Party.

He affirmed that Laos will do its best to consolidate the special bilateral cooperative ties and maintain regular exchange visits at all levels to promote people-to-people diplomacy and mutual understanding with its neighbour Vietnam. He expressed his hope that Vietnam will share its experiences in socio-economic development with Laos.

The two leaders reaffirmed that the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos is a valuable asset that should be nurtured and developed for future generations.
