Prime Minister begins official visit to Uzbekistan

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Tashkent on October 2 to begin his three-day official visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of his counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 

Welcoming PM Dung and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government, Uzbekistani PM Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people’s undauntedness and resilience during their past struggle for national independence and unification. 

The Uzbekistani PM spoke highly of Vietnam’s renewal achievements and affirmed that he will do his utmost to foster the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries in all aspects. 

Mr. Dung said he is pleased to visit Uzbekistan for the first time and see with his own eyes great achievements made by the Uzbekistani people. 

Later on the same day, PM Dung visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Uzbekistan. He also called at the Sergeli textile factory and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) representative office in Central Asia. 

PM Dung is scheduled to hold talks with his Uzbekistani counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and meet with leaders of the host country on Oct. 3 to discuss measures to boost economic, trade and investment cooperation, especially in the key fields of oil and gas, and agriculture.
