Press needs to stay proactive in dealing with difficulties and challenges

VOV.VN - Media agencies need to focus on effectively propagating the implementation of socio-economic tasks in the year ahead, urgently, actively, and creatively deploying plans, resolutions, conclusions, directives, and policies, as well as be highly determined to build a "professional, humane, and modern" press.

Nguyen Trong Nghia, head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Popularization and Education, made the statement at the first press briefing of the new lunar year held on February 20 in Hanoi.

At the meeting, many outstanding journalistic works were highly appreciated for expressing people’s aspiration, belief, and pride in the strength, will, and character of the nation towards its determination to build a prosperous country that stands shoulder to shoulder with the powers of the five continents as President Ho Chi Minh wished.

Pham Thu Hang, director of the Press Information Department and spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also informed about foreign media opinion towards Vietnam in 2023.

In line with this, the international press maintains an optimistic attitude towards the Vietnamese economy that is better than many countries in the region. The foreign media is therefore interested in Vietnam’s anti-corruption and citizen protection efforts, as well as the situation in the East Sea, known internationally as the South China Sea.

Nghia highlighted the Year of the Dragon 2024 as a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress in the lead-up to the 14th Party Congress, adding that this year will celebrate many important events of the nation.

Le Quoc Minh, deputy head of the Central Propaganda Department, editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that moving forward press agencies will continue to promote major information streams whilst tightening the ethics of journalists.

Furthermore, he also informed that the National Press Conference will take place in Ho Chi Minh City over the next three weeks and the national press forum will be held with the participation of 1,000 delegates who are leaders of media agencies. In line with this, it is set to launch an emulation movement towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, as well as inaugurating Huynh Thuc Khang School, which will be the first journalism school in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
