President Truong Tan Sang on January 9 paid a working visit to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi.
Working with the staff of the museum, President Sang highlighted the importance of introducing the cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups to international visitors and friends.
He said that during the period of integration, it is necessary to attract more investment aside from the State to raise the quality of the museum to regional and world levels.
The State leader also said that the museum should focus on introducing specific characteristics to help visitors learn about the development of each ethnic group.
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology covers an area of more than 4ha in Cau Giay district of Hanoi, with two areas for outdoor and indoor exhibits, including showrooms, a library, a warehouse and a hall.
The museum’s collections contain the ethnological history of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.
During 15 years of operation, the museum has collected tens of thousands of items and has received millions of visitors.
