At separate receptions for five Ambassadors from Ireland, India, Greece, Qatar and Cyprus, State President Nguyen Minh Triet has expressed his thanks to their countries’ for supporting Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.
State President Nguyen Minh Triet received five newly-accredited Ambassadors from Ireland, India, Greece, Qatar and Cyprus when they came to present credentials to him in Hanoi on February 1.
Mr Triet congratulated the five diplomats on their new role as Ambassadors to Vietnam and exchanged views with them about the development of bilateral relations in recent times, as well as prospects for boost trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and developed countries. President Triet wished them success during their mission term in Vietnam, which will contribute to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and their countries.
President Triet stressed that Vietnam’s WTO admission and its successful hosting of the 14th APEC Summit have helped increase the country’s position in the international arena. The Vietnamese Government and people are making every effort to create the best environment for foreign investors, he added.
For their part, the five Ambassadors expressed their delight at working in Vietnam at a time when the country is becoming an attractive destination for foreign investors. They lauded the great achievements recorded by the Vietnamese Party, State and people in the past struggle for national independence, as well as in the current cause of national construction and development. They all wished to promote the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between their countries and Vietnam.
