President To Lam hosts national defense-security council’s meeting

VOV.VN - Member of the Politburo and President To Lam presided over the fifth session of the Council of National Defence and Security in Hanoi on the morning of July 18.

Those in attendance included Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the council Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) and council member Tran Thanh Man, and Minister of National Defence and council member General Phan Van Giang, among other officials.

The council discussed its recent activities across various fields, particularly focusing on areas such as defence, security, and foreign affairs. Participants also gave opinions on the implementation progress of the 13-tenure Politburo's Resolution No. 05 on organising the People's Army for the 2021 to 2030 period and beyond; and Resolution No. 12 on strengthening  the construction of a clean, strong, regular, elite, and modern People's Public Security force to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

On behalf of the council, President Lam underlined that the implementation of these resolutions has yielded significant results.

He noted that amidst the complex and unpredictable global situation, the Party and State have adopted numerous policies and solutions aimed at ensuring the highest national interests and to foster greater unity within the Mekong sub-region and ASEAN.

The State leader noted that moving forward, it is imperative to closely monitor, proactively grasp, study, analyse, evaluate, and forecast the global, regional, and domestic situations, especially emerging strategic issues impacting on Vietnamese defence and security.

This proactive approach aims to give timely advice to both the Party and State on policies and measures, thereby avoiding passivity in any situation.
