He said history has affirmed the sound decision and strategic vision of late President Ho Chi Minh and the Party to establish Military Minors schools.
He also expressed his respect for lecturers who have devoted their lives to teaching generations of military minors over the past 60 years and said he hopes they will uphold their tradition to make further contributions within their capacity.
The State leader also asked the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and relevant agencies to cooperate with each other to expand this training model to meet the demand of national development in the future.
In the struggle against the French colonialists, President Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee decided to establish the first military minors team in Military Zone 1 in May 1946.
Since the establishment of the first Military Minors school in 1949, many other schools of the same kind have been set up and they have made significant contributions to national defence and construction.
Many famous leaders and managers are former students of such schools, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Party Politburo member Tran Dinh Hoan, former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, and Head of the National Assembly Committee for Foreign Affairs, Vu Mao.
