Mr Sang was speaking at a reception for Lao Minister of Public Security, Thongbanh Sengaphone, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam to attend celebrations of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year and the 67th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Police.

President Sang praised the two security ministries for effectively working together to help promote the process of international integration and national economic development.

He asked the two ministries to build plans to join efforts in ensuring national security, social order and safety, especially in organising important political events, including the ninth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), which is scheduled to take place in Laos on November 5-6.

Minister Sengaphone briefed his host on the positive results of cooperation between the two security ministries, as well as the opening of a representative office of the Laos Ministry of Public Security in Vietnam.

He thanked Vietnam for helping Laos prepare for the upcoming ASEM and said he believes cooperation between the two countries and the two security ministries will continue to grow and flourish in the future.
