President Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigns tasks to new ambassadors

VOV.VN - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented ambassadorial appointment decisions on October 21 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi to eight diplomats for the 2021 to 2024 term, detailing their tasks in Europe, Southern Europe, and Central Asia.

Assigning tasks to the new ambassadors, President Phuc re-emphasised Vietnamese foreign policy after the 13th National Party Congress, as well as the set goal of developing the nation into a high-income country by 2045.

The main priority moving forward for the new diplomats is to develop the national economy, mobilise all domestic and foreign resources for national development, improve the country’s reputation in the international arena, and realise the aspiration for peace, the Vietnamese State leader said.

On behalf of all Party and State leaders, President Phuc congratulated the new ambassadors, emphasising that this is both a great honour and a glorious responsibility that the Party, State, and people have trusted and assigned to them.

The COVID-19 pandemic requires each nation to redouble their efforts for recovery, President Phuc said, while requesting that the new diplomats promote their strong pioneering role of foreign affairs, including vaccine diplomacy, in order to facilitate the country's development moving into the new normal.

Amid fierce competition between major countries, the President requested that they actively engage in building a peaceful, friendly, and stable environment that serves as a basis for carrying forward bilateral and multilateral relations between the country and other nations.

The President therefore urged the Ambassadors to build political trust in order to create a solid foundation for broader co-operation across a variety of fields, whilst taking full advantage of the potential of partners to develop all aspects of socio-economic activity.

They were also asked to promote the expansion of foreign markets, along with carrying out vaccine diplomacy as a way of helping the country to go ahead with the fight against the pandemic and recover the local economy.

The Ambassadors expressed their great honour at receiving the tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people, whilst also pledging their best efforts to co-ordinate with domestic and foreign agencies to implement the foreign policy adopted at the 13th National Party Congress. These strategies aim to protect citizens, mobilise overseas Vietnamese and international resources to serve national construction, and persistently defend national sovereignty.
