During the visit, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2009-2013 period was signed between the Vietnamese academy delegation and its Lao counterpart.

Under the MoU, Vietnamese and Lao scientists will conduct a joint research project entitled “Building the ruling party during the process of developing the socialist oriented market economy in Vietnam and Laos” from 2009-10. The two academies will send delegations to make fact-finding tours and attend conferences in their countries.  

The Vietnamese delegation attended a conference to launch the project and paid a courtesy visit to Samane Vinhaket, a member of the politburo, who is in charge of ideological and cultural work of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
