Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Le Hong Anh emphasised the need to improve forecasting and strengthening political ideology.
At a conference in Da Nang on January 13 to review communication and education work in 2011 and put forth tasks for 2012, Mr Anh stressed the importance of enhancing the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and social evils as well as negative phenomena and degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyles.

He said that communication and education content and activities should be revamped to ensure the timely detection and resolution of emerging social issues, increase the forecasting capacity, and strengthen political ideology.

He also praised the sector's contributions to the Party and country’s achievements in 2011.

The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Commission for Communication and Education, as well as all levels and sectors, have thoroughly grasped the Party’s Resolution and the State’s policies; closely monitored the national and international situation; provided forecasts to the Politburo, the Secretariat and Party Committees; and performed their assigned communication and education tasks, he said.

He went on to say that results can be seen in political and ideological popularisation and education, press publications, arts and culture, education and training, science and technology, the environment and other social issues.

Politburo member and member of the CPVCC Secretariat Dinh The Huynh spoke of the conference's significance, remarking that this was the first year of implementing the 11th National Party Congress Resolution and the new the 2011-16 term of the 13th National Assembly and People's Council after the successful elections last May.

Despite the difficulties and challenges last year, under the Communist Party of Vietnam's (CPV) leadership, the national communication and education sector has joined people across the country to uphold their combined strength to settle social issues and encouraged the Party, army and people to fulfill their set tasks in 2011, he said.

The conference defined orientations and tasks for 2012 with a focus on improving the quality of the commissions and forecasting work.

The sector needs to promote the dissemination of appropriate information to encourage the entire Party, army and population to strive towards further socio-economic development and stronger defence, security and external relations. It must also be more proactive in the fight against peaceful evolution and the degradation of Party members’ political ideology, ethics and lifestyles, according to the conference.
