Policy dialogue enhances Vietnam-Germany party cooperation
VOV.VN - A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen Thuy Anh, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, visited Germany from November 24-27 to attend the 6th Policy Dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Germany’s Left Party
The delegation included officials from the Party Central Office, the Central Theoretical Council, leaders of several specialized units under the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, Nguyen Thuy Anh held a meeting with Vice-President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow; met Co-Chair of the Left Party Jan van Aken; and worked with Joachim Bertele, the German government’s Special Envoy for the Asia-Pacific region.
In Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in northern Germany, the delegation met Torsten Koplin — Chair of the Left Party parliamentary group in the state legislature; Justice Minister Jacqueline Bernhardt; and Hennis Herbst, Chair of the Left Party at the state level.
The delegation also visited and held discussions with Vietnamese Embassy staff in Berlin.
On November 24, Nguyen Thuy Anh and Maximilian Schirmer, Vice Chair of Germany’s Left Party, co-chaired the 6th Policy Dialogue between the two parties.
At the dialogue and related meetings, Thuy Anh reaffirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attach great importance to developing the strategic partnership with Germany, one of Vietnam’s key partners in Europe, and praised Germany’s leading role in the European Union.
She expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship between the two nations and thanked Left Party leaders for congratulatory letters on major national events such as the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
During discussions, the Vietnamese Party official briefed the German side on Vietnam’s comprehensive development achievements, administrative reforms, streamlining of the apparatus, and institutional breakthroughs over the past year.
She outlined measures aimed at achieving the nation’s centennial goals: becoming a modern industrialized country with upper-middle-income status by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.
Emphasis was placed on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as central priorities, with institutional reforms described as a “breakthrough of breakthroughs” to drive rapid and sustainable national development into a new era for Vietnam.
In a cordial, open, frank, and trusting atmosphere, both sides shared updates on national conditions, policies, and development objectives; challenges facing each party and country in a rapidly changing international and regional context; and practical experience in Party building, public engagement, and socio-economic development at both local and central levels.
Both parties emphasized that advancing science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and institutional reform represents the correct and breakthrough path for sustainable development that benefits workers and vulnerable groups.
They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern, agreeing on the need to step up cooperation and coordinate stance between the two parties, thereby promoting comprehensive bilateral cooperation and contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development regionally and globally.
Both sides endorsed resolving disputes and conflicts through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
German leaders and Left Party representatives expressed admiration and congratulated Vietnam on its recent development achievements and determination in reform, while expressing confidence that the country will meet its ambitious goals in the new era.
Germany’s Left Party affirmed that the policy dialogue serves as an effective channel for mutual understanding, sharing insights on global trends, and comparing notes on theoretical and practical issues at national, regional, and global levels, including decentralization, local budget balancing, reducing inequality, social injustice, and environmental protection.
Both sides agreed on the importance of further boosting bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, education and training, science and technology, justice, gender equality, culture and people-to-people exchanges, labor, and vocational training, especially at the local level.
The parties agreed that the 7th Policy Dialogue will be held in Vietnam in 2026.
