Talks were held between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk following a welcome ceremony for Mr Tusk and his delegation in Hanoi on September 9.

At their talks, PM Dung praised the visit as an important landmark in promoting their time-honoured friendship and multifaceted cooperation, especially in economic and trade ties.

The two leaders briefed each other on the situation in their country, compared notes on issues of common concern and agreed to coordinate more closely at regional and international forums. PM Dung expressed his delight at Poland’s achievements in national construction and development and its integration into Europe, which has elevated Poland’s international status.

Vietnam has always valued friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation with Poland, said Mr Dung.

Mr Dung thanked the Polish Government for providing assistance and support for the Vietnamese community and urged the Polish administration and its people to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to reside and do business in Poland.

Mr. Tusk hailed the tremendous socio-economic achievements recorded by the Vietnamese people during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

The two leaders noted with satisfaction the positive developments in bilateral relations in the past few years, particularly in economic and trade links. They agreed on a score of measures to further boost future Vietnam-Poland cooperation.

After the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of cooperation documents on national defense and security, diplomacy, the environment, and veterinary medicine.
