Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has requested Kazakhstan to soon open its embassy in Vietnam to foster bilateral cooperation and Vietnamese investments in oil and gas, mining and garment industries.

While receiving Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Kazhykhanov Yerzhan in Hanoi on April 6, Dung noted with pleasure that cooperative ties between the two countries are growing fruitfully, especially in economy, trade and investment.

Having congratulated Kazakhstan on its achievements, the PM said Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening and developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Kazakhstan on the basis of mutual trust and benefit.

He promised to create favourable conditions for Kazakh companies to invest in Vietnam and urged Kazakhstan to support Vietnam’s negotiations towards signing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with member nations of the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union.

The government leader also asked the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to work together closely to prepare for the Kazakh President’s upcoming visit, thereby bringing bilateral relations to a new level.

Yerzhan said the Kazakh President is planning to visit Vietnam later this year to advance cooperation in a array of fields, particularly in oil and gas, mining and garment industries.

The deputy minister affirmed Kazakhstan’s backing for Vietnam’s efforts to negotiate and sign FTAs with members of the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union.

Yerzhan spoke highly of the cooperation pacts signed during PM Dung’s trip to Kazakhstan, especially the deals in the oil and gas sector, which Kazakhstan considers a long-term strategic cooperation area.
