While working with its management board in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thach That on February 13, PM Dung stressed the need to facilitate development in science and technology, especially high-technology
The progress of the park’s construction and investment is slow compared with its plan, he said, adding that it will be difficult to complete the park by 2015 as scheduled.
To remove obstacles, the PM urged the management board to promptly submit the park’s master plan adjustment for official approval.
He also asked the management board to work actively with investors to speed up and complete site clearance this year.
Established in 1998 on an area of 1,586 hectares, the Hoa Lac high-tech park has completed site clearance for 845 hectares and granted licences to 61 projects with a combined capital of 31 trillion VND (USD1.47 billion), covering 217.56 ha.
Of the projects, 29 with a total registered capital of VND15.2 trillion are being implemented, creating jobs for more than 4,000 workers.
About 50 other projects with a total capital of VND44 trillion are awaiting licences.
However, the management board said the park has not yet attracted major investors for high-tech production due to poor infrastructure, slow site clearance and lack of incentives.
