Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 21 held a reception for Thai ambassador Pisanu Chanvitan who ended his term of office in Vietnam.

Being two neighbouring countries and members of ASEAN, Vietnam and Thailand are linked by a strong friendship and close relations, especially in politics and diplomacy, PM Dung said both nations have supported each other at international and regional forums. The recent times have also seen the development of their economic cooperation.

PM Dung also highlighted active contribution by the Thai ambassador in promoting comprehensive cooperation in many fields between Vietnam and Thailand.

Mr Dung expressed his hope that whichever position Mr Chanvitan will assume next, he will continue to consolidating and developing the fine relations between the two countries.

On his part, Mr Chanvitan thanked the Vietnamese government for supporting him during his term in Vietnam. He said that Thailand had sent 180 delegations at all levels to visit Vietnam within just over one year, which has proved that Thailand wanted to cooperate with Vietnam in all fields.

Thailand has always attached importance to developing comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, he added.
