PM Phuc: Vietnam regards Cuba as brothers
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Party, State and people always consider Cuba as their brothers in any circumstance, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc while receiving new Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Lianys Torres Rivera in Hanoi on December 26.
The government leader highlighted the sound relationships maintained over the past years and urged the two countries to augment their all-around cooperation in a practical and effective fashion with a focus on industry, defence, security, agriculture, and health care.
He also reiterated Vietnam's willingness to continue providing food for Cuba and advance bilateral cooperation in a multitude of areas, noting that Vietnam is increasing its investments in Cuba.
PM Phuc said he hopes that Cuba's drastic reforms would help spur national development more strongly and comprehensively in the time to come, and expected the nation to successfully hold a general election in early next year.
Ambassador Rivera, in turn, hailed Vietnam’s assistance to and cooperation with Cuba in diverse fields, thereby further reinforcing their traditional relations.
Vietnam’s support for and sentiment towards Cuba are a great gift, particularly after Cuba suffered from serious losses amounting to billions of US$ triggered by recent natural disasters, Rivera said.
She noted with joy the promotion of bilateral ties through maintenance of high-ranking exchange visits, adding that her nation boasts huge potential for stronger economic cooperation and desires to partner with Vietnam for mutual benefit.
