PM Pham Minh Chinh receives Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki on the morning of March 29 on the sidelines of the Investment Promotion Conference 2026 in Thanh Hoa, a northern province of Vietnam.
At the meeting, the PM said the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing well, substantively and effectively across multiple fields, with a high level of political trust, especially as the international and regional situation sees complex developments.
He asked Ambassador Ito Naoki to continue paying attention to and further promote investment cooperation projects with Vietnam, including in Thanh Hoa, a locality with vast potential and room for development, particularly in supply chain security and energy.
The Government leader also underscored the principle of cooperation of “harmonised interests and shared risks”, adding that “what is said must be done, what is committed must be realized , and what is implemented must be effective” contributing to improving the effectiveness of investment cooperation and bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of both countries.
On the occasion, he thanked Ambassador Ito Naoki and a large number of Japanese businesses for their interest in and active participation in the Thanh Hoa Investment Promotion Conference 2026.
Expressing his pleasure at meeting PM Pham Minh Chinh in Thanh Hoa, Ambassador Ito Naoki said the province hosts a number of Japanese-invested projects such as the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project, Nghi Son Cement Plant and Nghi Son Thermal Power Plant, which contribute to socio-economic development of the locality and Vietnam as a whole. He added that Japan, particularly Japanese businesses, will continue to prioritise investment in Thanh Hoa and Vietnam.
Ambassador Ito Naoki thanked PM Chinh for chairing the Dialogue with Japanese Businesses on March 21, affirming that the Japanese business community continues to regard Vietnam as one of the region’s important and attractive investment destinations.
He also appreciated the attention and active support of Thanh Hoa’s leaders and local authorities for Japanese investors, and affirmed he will continue to promote cooperation with the province in the coming time.
On this occasion, Ambassador Ito expressed his hope that both sides will work closely to effectively accelerate key cooperation projects between the two countries, such as the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project and the Vietnam-Japan University project.
