VOV.VN - On April 19, at Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over a ceremony to inaugurate and break ground on national key projects and major works in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

At the same time, in 34 provinces and cities across all three regions of the country, and at 26 connected locations nationwide, 80 projects in transport, agriculture, healthcare, education, housing, social housing, urban areas, and industrial parks were simultaneously launched or inaugurated on April 19. These projects are expected to create new development space and provide a foundation to boost economic and social growth.
The 80 projects launched or inaugurated on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification have a total investment of over VND445 trillion. Among them are 40 transport projects, 12 industrial and civil construction projects, 12 education projects, 9 socio-cultural projects, 5 community healthcare projects, and 2 irrigation projects.
Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha stressed, “The projects inaugurated or commenced today are the result and proof of our development aspirations. They embody the will and determination of the Party, State, and people to build a prosperous, civilized, and modern country.”

Regarding expressways, the commissioning of six components, namely Bai Vot-Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi-Vung Ang, Bung-Van Ninh, Van Phong-Nha Trang, Ben Luc-Long Thanh, and Bien Hoa-Vung Tau on April 19 brings the total length of operational expressways in the country to 2,268 km. Of these, four projects were completed 6 to 9 months ahead of schedule.
In terms of aviation infrastructure, several major projects are being urgently and resolutely implemented, including Long Thanh International Airport and the expansion of Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports. Notably, Terminal T3, built to international standards with a designed capacity of 20 million passengers per year, has now been completed and will operate efficiently to serve domestic flights at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
In urban development and housing, numerous projects have been accelerated to reshape urban landscapes in a modern and synchronized manner. Highlights include the commissioning of urban railway lines such as Nhon–Hanoi Station and Ben Thanh–Suoi Tien, the groundbreaking of Hanoi’s Ring Road 3.5, and the Can Gio coastal urban area. Regarding energy infrastructure, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for power projects focused on clean energy, such as gas-fired, renewable, and nuclear power plants, aimed at better leveraging the country’s geographical advantages.

At the ceremony, PM Pham Minh Chinh recalled the nation’s glorious history, highlighting the people’s enduring aspiration for independence, freedom, and peace, which was achieved through the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign and the Great Spring Victory of 1975, exactly 50 years ago. The total liberation of the South and national reunification fulfilled the long-held dream of every household after years of valiant and resilient struggle, sacrifice, and loss, imbued with pride and honor.
“The 50-year journey of national reunification is not only a time to honor our glorious past and reflect on hard-earned lessons, but also a process of building and developing the country-one that propels us forward with pride, confidence and unyielding determination. We continue to fulfill our historical mission in a new era, the era of prosperity, modernization and advancement for our nation,” Chinh emphasized.
The Government chief expressed particular delight at witnessing the completion of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on this historic occasion, two months ahead of schedule.
“The major socio-economic projects launched or inaugurated today across the country are all strategically important. They show the determination of the Party, State, ministries, localities and enterprises to create new development spaces, laying the foundation for economic growth and national progress, ensuring social welfare, security and defense, and improving the lives of our people. They create a solid foundation for Vietnam to move forward in this new era of robust and sustainable development. I hope these will become iconic projects that help position Vietnam on the world map as a nation of ‘Independence-Peace- Reunification-Resilience- Happiness-Prosperity-Civilization,’ he said.

PM Chinh affirmed that the inauguration and groundbreaking of these projects are of great significance in many aspects, including economics, politics, society, security-defence, and international integration. He emphasized the cultural value of Vietnam: "What has been promised is done, what has been committed must be carried out, and what has been done is tangible and yields concrete results," contributing to creating an attractive investment environment for businesses, citizens, and both domestic and international investors. This demonstrates the aspirations, confidence, resilience, and core values of the Vietnamese people, with a strong spirit of "turning the impossible into possible, and transforming what cannot be done into what can be done."
PM Chinh also commended the officials, civil servants, workers, laborers, investors, consultants, and local authorities who have actively embraced new thinking, methods, and approaches, overcoming difficulties, working through holidays and breaks, mobilizing all available resources, equipment, and machinery, and applying modern technical solutions to ensure the timely operation of the projects.
Earlier, Chinh along with other delegates, attended a ceremony announcing the pilot implementation of solutions for electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition to facilitate boarding procedures for ships, which were coordinated and carried out by units under the Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with other agencies.
