Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung officially inaugurated Vinh Tuy bridge over the Red River on September 25 as one of the key projects marking the 1000th founding anniversary of the capital city of Hanoi.

This is one of seven bridges over the Red River in the Hanoi area. It was built to relieve traffic on Chuong Duong and Long Bien bridges and to link urban areas and industrial parks in the north with the centre of Hanoi.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr Dung said “The government will do its utmost to give the capital more beneficial construction projects that serve the people and the city’s sustainable development”.

The Vinh Tuy project began in February 2005, with a total investment of more than VND3,500 billion mobilized by the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee from bonds and other sources of funding.
