PM hosts Indian diplomat, PCA Secretary-General
VOV.VN - On April 21 Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh in Hanoi during which he asked both nations to step up cooperation in areas of their potential and needs.

He said both nations have enjoyed sound traditional relations with strong mutual trust, lauding India’s goodwill in providing a preferential credit package to Vietnam for supporting the country’s development, as well as technical assistance in various areas of Vietnam’s demand.
Vietnam hopes that India will continue to augment bilateral defence cooperation, Phuc said while affirming the country's support for India in continuing its oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities at sea.
The cabinet leader expected India to strengthen its voice for peace, stability, navigation and aviation safety and security in the East Sea, as well as settlement of disputes by peaceful means based on international law.
He noted that this year, the two sides will celebrate their 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 25 years of the ASEAN-India dialogue partnership of which Vietnam plays the role of coordinator.
The Indian diplomat suggested two countries should build roadmaps and specific plans to realize their comprehensive strategic partnership more effectively.
India is working hard to make its commitment to provide a US$500 million credit package for Vietnam, while boosting affiliation with the country in cyber security, trade protection, defence personnel training, aerospace, and traditional medicine development, he told his host.
He pointed to strong potential in expanding bilateral partnership, and suggested that Vietnam and India should create favourable conditions for people-to –people exchanges through the opening of air routes, while developing maritime transport to serve trade
He also called for more sea transport services between the two countries to lower product prices.
The same day, PM Phuc also met with Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) Hugo Hanz Siblesz in Hanoi.

The PM greatly valued the PCA’s relations with Vietnam and noted his wish to develop these ties in a more extensive and effective manner.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be assigned to be in charge of connections with the PCA, PM Phuc said, adding that Vietnam welcomes the court of arbitration’s opening of an office in the country through which bilateral cooperation will be intensified in a result-oriented fashion.
Vietnam is making efforts to expand comprehensive cooperation with other countries, regions and organisations in the world. The country expects to receive the PCA’s advice on and assistance in legal staff and lawyer training and related issues, Phuc said.
At the meeting, PCA Secretary-General Siblesz introduced the court of arbitration’s activities to the PM.
He thanked the Vietnamese Government for permitting the PCA office opening in Vietnam which will offer favourable conditions for the PCA’s activities here, especially lawyer and legal staff training.
