Vietnam wishes to receive more official development assistance (ODA) from Switzerland, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving newly-accredited Swiss Ambassador, Andrej Motyl, in Hanoi on January 16.
PM Dung affirmed that Vietnam and Switzerland have seen effective cooperation in various fields, especially in economics, trade and investment, with their two-way trade turnover reaching US$3.3 billion in 2011. Swiss businesses have invested around US$2 billion in the Vietnamese market.
He called for more preferential loans from the government of Switzerland, with a focus on the banking, education and environment sectors.
For his part, Ambassador Andrej Motyl said he will do his best to tighten ties of education and training, science and technology, legislation and economic cooperation.
The Swiss diplomat also voiced his support for Vietnam at regional and international forums.
