Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Admiral Edouard Guillaud, Chief of Defence Staff of the French Army in Hanoi on February 23.

On the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, PM Dung said Vietnam-France relations are growing well in all fields, bringing bilateral ties to a higher level.

He spoke highly of the results of close cooperation between the two defence ministries and the two armies in implementing their agreements.

The government leader also exchanged views with the French Admiral on unstable developments in the region and the world.

For his part, Admiral Guillaud expressed his wish for closer cooperation between the two armies and voiced his support for Vietnam’s efforts to settle disputes in the East Sea through peaceful dialogues in line with international laws and the principle of free navigation.
